Proof that I was always destined for a career in advertising.

Proof that I was always destined for a career in advertising.

When I was in third grade, Miss Mary put a snowflake stamp on my poem about winter and told me I was going to be a famous author one day. I’d love to say that this is where my career as a copywriter started, but that would be a lie.

I’ve always loved telling stories, but even at 8 years old I was a bit of a cynic. Getting paid to write? I might as well aspire to a career as a professional ice cream taster. So off I went, trying to find my pragmatic place in the world.

I first studied Mathematical Economics at Colorado College, but after spending most of my time there writing, sewing, and painting, I finally gave in to my creative destiny and gave art school a shot. I started out at Savannah College of Art and Design as a Fashion Design major which, while designing and making clothes is my greatest passion, I realized was not my calling career-wise.

After taking a year off and working in the restaurant industry in Savannah, Georgia, I came back to S.C.A.D. as an advertising major. While it took me a bit longer than others to find the right fit, I couldn’t be happier that I ended up in Advertising. I love that my job is to hang out with incredible creative minds and dream up meaningful ways of connecting with people. And most of all, I love that in this industry every ounce of weirdness in my body is appreciated, welcome, and frankly makes me a whole lot better at what I do.
